Accessibility and reading support

Senior Budget Living is designed for older adults and people with disabilities, including blind, low-vision, mobility-disabled, hearing-disabled, and cognitively disabled visitors.

Text and contrast controls

The controls at the top of every page provide regular, larger, and extra-large text plus a high-contrast display. The chosen setting is saved only on that device.

Screen readers and page structure

Pages use descriptive titles, ordered headings, labeled forms and buttons, alternative text for meaningful images, and hidden labels for controls that need additional explanation. Decorative subject icons are hidden from screen readers because the written subject name provides the same information.

Keyboard and touch access

Visitors can skip directly to the main content, move through links and form controls with a keyboard, and use controls sized for easier selection on phones and tablets.

Plain language

Articles should explain abbreviations, use direct headings, identify limitations, and link directly to the responsible government agency or established organization.

Report an accessibility barrier

Use the question and correction form to report a page that is difficult to read, navigate, hear, operate, or understand. Include the page address and the problem, but do not submit medical records, account numbers, Social Security numbers, passwords, or other sensitive information.
